The
2009 Labour Market Survey of the Lifesciences, Pharamaceuticals,
Biotechnology and Medical Devices Sector
During November 2009, Semta and Cogent joined forces to conduct
a research survey to seek the opinions of employers across England,
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. This focussed on
gaining a better understanding of how recruitment, skills, training
and Continuing Professional Development affect business performance
in the Life Sciences, Pharmaceuticals, Biotechnology and Medical
Devices Sectors. The results of the research, built on a
telephone survey of 380 employers conducted by BMG Research, are
published here

Skills Agreements
Research reports to support the action plans for the sector
skills agreements are available for Aerospace, Electronics and
Automotive, Marine, Bioscience and Metals, Mechanical, Electrical
sectors. The reports contain employer views on the skills
needed to maintain and expand their businesses as well as desk
research related to the educational and training landscape for
these particular sectors. Analysis of the gaps between the
supply and skills needs, forms the basis of the action plans agreed
across the four nations.

Engineering Sectors
This report is the initial result of 5129 employer interviews
conducted by telephone between December 2006 and February 2007. It
contains data to provide a GB wide picture of employment in the
Engineering Sectors and provide an informed overview of labour
market issues with particular focus on recruitment, skills and
training.
