Biography - Dolores Byrne
Dolores was appointed as MD Innovation in April 2007 with
responsibility for strategic business development and driving
QinetiQ’s innovation strategy in UK .
During her career with QinetiQ and its predecessor organisations
Dolores has held a number of technical and managerial positions as
the organisation progressed from being part of Government to
transitioning in 2001 to the private sector. Following
privatisation Dolores was appointed as Managing Director Public
Sector with responsibility for leading the development of QinetiQ’s
business with national security and civil customers.
Dolores graduated in Physics from Queen’s University Belfast and
also holds a MBA from Southampton University. She is a Fellow of
the Institute of Engineering and Technology, a Fellow of the
Institute of Physics and has served as Vice-President of the
Institute of Physics.
She is a member of the board of SEEDA (South East England RDA),
of the board of AIRTO (Association of Independent Research and
Technology Organisations) and of Semta (Sector Skills Council for
Science, Engineering & Manufacturing Technologies).
