Key Themes from Semta's Sector Skills Agreement for Aerospace
Leadership & Management Productivity & Competitiveness Technical Workforce Development Strategic Workforce Planning

Major Aerospace sector companies playing a leading role in NI in conjunction with Department for Employment and Learning and the Management and Leadership Network(MLN) initiiatives.

Annual Management & Leadership conference established.

Management Analysis and Planning intervention offered to small firms - to advise and promote management development, professional advice funded by DEL (Details on MLN website).

DEL's "Leading to Success" strategy has set out clear goals and actions to drive M & L in Northern Ireland.

ETC NI will coordinate its actions within these national programmes.

LEAN and Business Improvement Techniques programme implemented, in a bespoke format, in a large company.

Another large company is engaged in a National Skills Academy for Manufacturing organised Business-Improvement Techniques programme covering all employees, which is also being implemented in its supply chain companies.

Aero apprenticeship programmes are well developed. Prominent supply chain companies also well advanced on apprenticeships.

 

Programmes serviced by ETC NI through Eng. Trg. Services and accredited via ETC Awards.

 

Foundation degree in development for large companies.

 

Upskilling focusing on semi-skilled to skilled occupations.

 

Maintenance initiatives and feeder skills competitions for WorldSkills 2011 in progress.

Strategic Workforce Development programmes being discussed with Vice President of Human Resources at a large company with Semta representatives.
