The Science Cluster of Sector Skills Councils and UK STEM Skills Forum

The members of the Science Cluster are:

The purpose of the Science Cluster is to undertake strategic planning and review of activity across Sectors using STEM skills.  The aim is to provide a meaningful and responsive fit between STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills provision and STEM skills needs.

The Science Cluster has already identified four key themes for action:

  1. Research/Labour Market Intelligence (LMI), led by Skills for Justice

  2. 14-19 STEM Education, led by Proskills

  3. Higher Education, led by Cogent

  4. Workforce Development, led by Semta

In addition to the work of the Cluster, Semta has also created a UK STEM Skills Forum, which is chaired by Prof John Holman, the National STEM Co-ordinator.  The Forum will assist the Sector Skills Councils in prioritising STEM skills activities, and make proposals to government to improve the supply of STEM-skilled people.
