Aeronautical Engineering

Who can enter?

 

The competition is for technicians working or training in the aeronautical engineering industry. The competition is based on the standards attained by trainees who have reached or are working towards S/NVQ Level 3 or have gained their Part 66 qualification. The competition is open

 

to the following level:

 

About the competition:

 

The competitions have been designed to reflect the role of a mechanical or avionic technician and the standards that are expected within the aeronautical industry.

 

Mechanical:

  • Aeronautical knowledge based assessment – Hydraulic task – design, build and test
  • a basic hydraulic circuit 
  • Flying control rigging task 
  • Engine boroscope and blade blending task 
  • Sheet metal hand skills task 
  • Daily inspection (Pre flight check)

Avionic:

  • Aeronautical knowledge based assessment – Fault finding to circuit diagram level
  • Fault finding to block schematic diagram level – Fault finding on integrated avionic system
  • Aircraft wiring repair task
  • Daily inspection (Pre flight check)

How many competitors can enter from each organisation?

Two competitors per specialism per organisation.
