About the competition

The competition has been designed to reflect the role of an advanced metal fabricator and meeting industry standards. The project will require the competitor to undertake fabrication related tasks including:

– Assembly

– Cutting

– Forming

– Joining

- Marking out

– Shaping

Who can enter?

The competition is intended for those studying, training and/or working in general fabrication, structural fabrication, shipbuilding, engineering construction and manufacturing. Competitors can be working towards or recently completed a S/NVQ level 2 in a related qualification.

How many competitors can enter from each organisation?

Up to three competitors per organisation per level.

Competition Structure

Stage one: Enter online and complete the screening form by 15 March 2012.

Stage two: Those competitors meeting the required standard will be invited to compete in a live regional heat.

Stage three: The top 10 highest scoring competitors from across the regional heats will be invited to compete in the live UK final.

Competition Partners

The competition is run by the Association for Welding Fabrication Training and Education in association with industry partners including: Air products PLC, Engineering Construction Industry Training Board, Global Training and Education Limited, Lincoln Electric, Motherwell College, Scottish Association for Engineering Education, Semta and The Welding Institute.
